And at long last...

Yowza. It's been a damn long time since I posted about my photography down from my neck of Virginia. It's a dreadful sin for a photographer to be silent for so long, and I apologize for that.

But the good news, I've been shooting all along. That means I've got a cache of awesome wedding photos to share with you, as well as some fun tips and advice for you amateurs out there. So welcome me back as I get you started from one of my favorite recent weddings.

Elissa and Joe got hitched in a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony just outside Richmond. It was truly a blast to meet their families and meet Joe and his fellow servicemen. It had elements of traditional ceremonies, but the couple added some touches to make sure the day was their own. You can probably tell from Elissa's tattoos that she's not the most traditional of brides, and I mean that in the best way possible. Bottom line: It was a blast to meet them and an honor to give them images to remember their awesome wedding.

I liked the juxtaposition of Elissa against the background of these magazine cover images as she was getting ready. Funny that those serious ladies in the background were the ones in print, but Elissa looked far better if you ask me.

This is such an honest moment. I was setting them up for some portrait shots, but they were chatting as we walked. I took a few steps back and let their dynamic take over. They didn't even know I took this one.

No idea where this top hat came from, but it was a nice little addition to the reception.

Elissa had some amazing tattoos, some of which told stories from her adventurous life. Needless to say, she's probably much tougher than I am.

Gotta love them boots, eh?
